About the position

Alpine F1 Team are looking for a talented Aerodynamicist to join our Experimental Testing group. With a dynamic and supportive team mindset and world-leading facilities in rural Oxfordshire, we provide the ideal environment where engineers can make their mark while constantly developing their skills and capabilities.

If you are high performing, tenacious and motivated, apply today and take the first step towards joining the Enstone family.

The Role

As an Aerodynamicist in our Experimental Testing group, you will be responsible for running test programmes in our on-site wind tunnel, putting your understanding of aerodynamics fundamentals and your broader knowledge of experimental techniques to use in helping drive our car’s performance to ever-greater levels. In this position you will be on the front line of our aerodynamic development programme: this is a perfect role in which to further your own and our team’s understanding of aerodynamic interactions and sensitivities, and to gain unparalleled insights into the aerodynamic behaviour of the car as a whole. Working collaboratively with fellow engineers of all levels, you will ensure that all tests are thoroughly prepared, their aerodynamic intent is captured, and all necessary data successfully acquired. During testing you will use your analytical skills to identify and investigate any unexpected results.

As someone with an active and curious mind, you will never rest on your laurels but will constantly strive to enhance your own capabilities and those of the wider team by helping to improve our methodology and processes.

Working as part of a team of motivated and talented engineers as well as contributing your own creative ideas and expertise, you will grow as an engineer by learning from and being supported by those around you, making this an ideal place to progress your career as an aerodynamicist.

The Person

The starting point for this role is a solid understanding of flow physics and fundamentals, which you will have acquired by attaining a strong university degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline with significant aerodynamics content. We invite applications both from experienced aerodynamicists and from recent graduates: the job title and pay scale will be set appropriately once the successful candidate has been identified. Whatever your level, your background will have given you experience or a strong appreciation of wind tunnel technologies and techniques, and an enthusiasm for experimental testing in general.

This is fundamentally a team role, so you will be an excellent communicator and be able to show us that you can work collaboratively even when under pressure. Capable of keeping an eye on the details while never losing sight of the big picture of what you are trying to achieve, you will be able to adopt a pragmatic approach when needed. You will have a curious mindset, always hungry to learn and to challenge your assumptions.

In this role you will be based at our Technical Centre in Enstone. It will require flexibility, with regular shift work including night shifts and occasional weekends.

If we receive a suitable number of applicants we may close the vacancy before the advertised date.

Alpine Racing strives to be diverse and inclusive, a place where we can all be ourselves. We welcome people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and experiences. We are committed to making a consistent, top down effort to be role models on what diversity, inclusion and belonging means in society.
